Roots Endodotics

SERVICES FOR CHILDREN

All treatments are performed using the state-of-the-art ZEISS Extaro specialized dental microscope, allowing us to conduct procedures with absolute precision, much faster, and with greater safety and effectiveness across the entire spectrum of treatments.

Endodontic treatments

In recent years, there has been significant development and advancement in the field of regenerative techniques, particularly in Endodontics. Regenerative techniques are primarily applied in children where root formation has ceased due to infection and necrosis of the nerves.
As a result, the root remains open, undeveloped, weaker, and simultaneously infected. With regenerative techniques, after disinfecting the tooth, we create the conditions inside it and by placing appropriate materials and agents internally, we stimulate and enable the organism's cells to activate. Once inflammation is resolved, these cells continue the root's development and further maturation. There are three different regenerative techniques that we can apply: Apexification technique, Apexogenesis technique, and Regenerative techniques. For more details, ask us during the diagnostic appointment.

There are many cases where we can avoid endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) and maintain the vitality of the tooth nerves, preserving all their functions. This is particularly useful in children and teeth that have not yet completed root formation, as by saving the nerves, we allow the teeth to complete their development.

When your tooth hurts only momentarily upon drinking cold water (not hot), and there's no spontaneous pain or intense discomfort upon chewing, we can assess the likelihood of avoiding endodontic treatment and preserving the nerves within the roots. How is this achieved? If the cavity is deep and reaches the nerve, and if the above symptoms are present, we can use an optical microscope to remove only the superficial portion of the affected nerve that doesn't require complete removal of all nerves. Then, we cover the nerves with specialized bio-ceramic, biocompatible materials of the latest technology, and the patient returns for a simple filling.

What is the Sleep Endodontics;

Sleep Endodontics is an innovative concept created to meet the needs of thousands of pediatric and adult patients in Greece, providing specialized endodontic treatment (root canal therapy) using dental microscopy and sedation methods such as general anesthesia or patient sedation. Patients can undergo their endodontic treatment entirely painlessly in a controlled state of complete relaxation, free from any anxiety during the procedure and without any discomfort. In addition to its calming and analgesic effects, sleep endodontics allows even the most complex endodontic treatments or surgical interventions to be completed in one session for the patient.

Endodontist Dr. Nestor Tzimoulias collaborates with various private clinics equipped with surgical operating microscopes, and together with the specialized team of anesthesiologists, they can offer patients different methods of conscious sedation, including the use of nitrous oxide. In more specific cases requiring a higher level of sedation, intravenous general anesthesia is administered.

Who is Sleep Endodontics intended for? Sleep Endodontics:

  • Fearful of the dentist and dental procedures
  • With a strong gag reflex
  • Patients with special needs (PwSN)
  • Children with cooperation difficulties with the dentist
  • With reduced response to local anesthesia.
  • Who desire complex endodontic treatments involving multiple sessions or multiple teeth to be completed in a single session.
  • Who require complex surgical interventions.
  • For the management of severe dental traumas.
  • For patients with low tolerance who are unable to remain calm and comfortable in the dental chair for the duration required to complete endodontic treatment.
  • Patients who have difficulty keeping their mouths open during endodontic treatment.
